Orbit Fab

Building the “Gas Stations in Space”

Orbit Fab is building the infrastructure that allows satellites and spacecraft to refuel in orbit — replacing today’s disposable spacecraft model with a refuelable, reusable space economy.

What once sounded like science fiction is becoming real infrastructure: Orbit Fab has hardware in space, $40M+ in government and commercial contracts and awards, and backing from major aerospace players including Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.

The Problem

A $200M spacecraft can become useless simply because it runs out of fuel.

Satellites are extraordinarily sophisticated machines — but most are still effectively disposable. Once a spacecraft exhausts its propellant, it can lose the ability to maintain orbit, reposition itself, avoid debris, or continue its mission, even when the rest of the hardware remains perfectly functional.

The market opportunity extends beyond satellite life extension. Reliable access to fuel could support orbital transportation, satellite servicing, debris removal, commercial space stations, in-space manufacturing, and deep-space logistics.

The result:

$10B+

in orbital assets are lost annually as spacecraft reach the end of their fuel supply.

$200M

It is like buying a car, driving until the tank is empty and then throwing the entire vehicle away.

And as thousands of new commercial and defense satellites enter orbit, the problem only gets larger.

The Solution

Orbit Fab is building the world’s first scalable fuel supply chain in space.

Orbit Fab’s goal is simple: Make spacecraft refuelable. Its infrastructure is built around three core pieces:

01

RAFTI™

The fueling port

Installed directly on spacecraft, RAFTI provides a standardize interface through which satellites can receive fuel in orbit.

02

GRIP™

The robotic connection.

GRIP autonomously docks with RAFTI and enables precise propellant transfer without human intervention.

03

Depots + Shuttles

The distribution network

Orbital depots store fuel, while reusable shuttles transport it to customer spacecraft.

Together, these components create the foundation of an entirely new orbital fuel network.

Why Invest

Orbit Fab isn’t just building a product. It’s establishing the standard.

The biggest opportunity may ultimately be the infrastructure around the fuel itself. Orbit Fab has already sold 52 RAFTI fueling ports, creating a growing installed base of spacecraft capable of becoming future refueling customers.

RAFTI is also the only commercially available refueling interface approved for U.S. defense satellites, giving Orbit Fab an important early position as government and commercial spacecraft are designed around refueling.

That creates a potentially powerful flywheel:

01

More RAFTI ports

02

More refueling customers

03

More incentive for spacecraft and
servicing companies to support RAFTI

04

Stronger adoption of the standard

Orbit Fab has also achieved something highly unusual in aerospace:

Both Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman have invested in the company. Two fierce defense competitors independently backing the same infrastructure startup is a meaningful signal of how strategically important in-space refueling could become.

This is no longer just a vision. Orbit Fab has already begun turning its infrastructure thesis into real hardware, customers, and contracts.

Industry Firsts

First commercial in-space fueling port, first commercial propellant depot in Low Earth Orbit, and first private company to resupply the International Space Station with water

Orbit Fab is also working with spacecraft-servicing companies including Astroscale andClearSpace as the industry moves toward operational refueling missions.

The Economics ofFel in Space

$300/kg on Earth. Approximately $200,000/kg delivered in orbit.

That spread sounds extraordinary until you consider what the fuel protects. A relatively small amount of propellant can potentially extend the useful life of a satellite worth tens or hundreds of millions of dollars — allowing the customer to avoid replacing an otherwise functional spacecraft.

Orbit Fab estimates that each RAFTI port could represent $42M+ in potential lifetime fuel demand. But refueling does more than extend satellite life.

Reliable access to fuel could allow spacecraft to launch with smaller tanks, carry more productive payload, reposition more frequently, and support entirely new industries. Orbit Fab isn’t simply trying to sell fuel. It is trying to change how spacecraft are designed and operated.
